A benefit to risk ratio assessment must be undertaken prior to performing an MRI on a patient with an implanted cardiac prosthesis (pacemaker/ICD). The acting physician will make the final decision, taking into account the medical indication and MRI type, as well as both medical and manufacturer recommendations.
